Terms of service

Terms & Conditions

1. About These Terms

These Terms & Conditions explain how The Saddle Edit supplies goods, services and digital products to customers. By placing an order through our website, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to purchase from us.

2. About The Saddle Edit

The Saddle Edit is an equestrian business supplying new and pre-owned saddles, accessories, digital products and related services.

For questions, orders or complaints, please contact us using the details provided on our website.

3. Orders

An order becomes a contract once payment has been received and, where applicable, we have confirmed your order by email.

We may decline an order where an item is unavailable, incorrectly priced or described, or where we are unable to fulfil the order. If this happens, any payment already made will be refunded.

Please keep your order number available when contacting us about an order.

4. Saddles & Products

Pre-owned saddles

Used saddles may differ slightly from photographs, descriptions or stated measurements. Colour, wear and condition can appear differently depending on the device used to view the website.

Saddle descriptions and sizing are based on our assessment and may differ from the opinion of another saddle fitter. Customers should arrange for a qualified saddle fitter to check the saddle before use.

Used saddles may be eligible for a 5-day UK trial, subject to the conditions on the individual listing.

The saddle remains the customer's responsibility throughout the trial. Damage, excessive wear or marks may result in a deduction from the refund.

New saddles

New saddles may be tried carefully on the horse using suitable protection. They must not be used in a way that causes marks, wear or damage.

If a new saddle is returned in a used or damaged condition, a deduction may be made to reflect the reduction in value.

Manufacturer warranties apply where provided. Customers are responsible for registering their saddle with the manufacturer where required.

Specially ordered or back-ordered items may be subject to a cancellation charge.

Accessories

New accessories, including bridles, girths and stirrup leathers, cannot normally be used before being returned.

Unused items may be returned within the applicable return period and must be in their original, unopened packaging. A deduction may apply where an item has been opened, used or damaged.

Digital products

Digital products, including online courses, may not be refundable once access or download has begun where permitted by law.

5. Consignment Saddles

The Saddle Edit may sell saddles on behalf of owners for an agreed commission.

Owners sending saddles to us are responsible for the cost and risk of delivery until the saddle has safely arrived. We recommend using tracked and insured delivery.

Saddles must arrive clean and in suitable condition for sale.

Where requested, we may offer a trial period to potential buyers. Any damage caused during the trial may be deducted from the amount returned to the buyer.

There is no guaranteed timescale for selling a consignment saddle.

We may clean and condition saddles using appropriate professional products while they are in our possession.

If an owner asks for their saddle to be returned before sale, applicable administration and delivery charges will apply.

Any initial valuation is based on the information and photographs supplied. Following inspection, we may amend the suggested selling price where the condition differs from what was originally described.

Payment to the owner will be made in accordance with the agreed consignment terms after the sale has completed.

We reserve the right to refuse saddles that do not meet our inspection standards.

Saddles requiring repair

We may reject saddles with significant structural faults, including damaged trees, serious asymmetry, stirrup bar problems or major panel defects.

Where a fault appears repairable, we may obtain a repair quotation. Any repair must be approved and paid for by the owner before the sale can proceed.

Faults not disclosed before submission may result in repair, return or other applicable charges.

Rejected saddles will be returned at the owner's cost. Additional storage charges may apply where a saddle is not collected or return charges remain unpaid.

6. Classified Listings

Our classified section allows individuals to advertise saddles for sale.

The Saddle Edit does not act as the seller for classified listings and is not responsible for the condition, suitability, accuracy or quality of items advertised by third-party sellers.

Buyers should make their own enquiries before purchasing.

Anyone placing a classified advert must ensure that their information is accurate, truthful and not misleading.

Uploaded content must comply with applicable law and must not contain offensive, defamatory, unlawful or infringing material.

7. Saddle Fitting

Any virtual saddle fitting advice is based on the information provided to us and cannot guarantee that a saddle will fit correctly without being physically assessed on the horse.

We recommend using a qualified saddle fitter to confirm suitability.

Where we provide details of an independent saddle fitter, that fitter is not employed by The Saddle Edit. Any agreement or dispute regarding their services must be dealt with directly with the fitter.

8. Trials & Returns

Where a 5-day trial is offered, the trial starts when the saddle is delivered.

Customers should check the saddle immediately and report any damage or issues to us as soon as possible.

Customers remain responsible for the saddle during the trial, including loss, theft or damage.

If the saddle is unsuitable, you must notify us within the trial period and follow our return instructions.

The saddle must be returned safely and in the same condition, allowing for reasonable trial use. Damage may affect the refund.

Return and trial charges may apply as stated on the relevant product or website.

Once the saddle is returned, it will be inspected before the refund is processed.

9. Payments

Payment must normally be made in full before goods are dispatched.

We accept the payment methods displayed on our website.

Prices may be changed at any time before an order is accepted. If an obvious pricing error occurs, we will contact you before proceeding.

Where an order is cancelled before dispatch, an administration or transaction charge may apply where stated.

10. Delivery

We aim to dispatch and deliver orders within the timescales provided on our website.

Delivery charges are payable unless otherwise stated.

We are not responsible for delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, although we will take reasonable steps to keep customers informed.

Once goods have been delivered to the agreed address, responsibility for them normally passes to the customer.

11. Cancelling an Order

Consumer customers may have statutory cancellation rights under UK law, including a 14-day cooling-off period for many online purchases.

Certain products and services may be excluded from these rights, including some bespoke goods and digital content once access or download has begun.

Where a customer exercises a legal cancellation right, goods must be returned within the required timeframe and may need to be returned at the customer's expense unless the law states otherwise.

Refunds will be made using the original payment method, subject to any lawful deductions.

12. Faulty or Incorrect Products

If you believe a product is faulty, damaged or incorrectly described, please contact us as soon as possible.

Nothing in these terms removes or limits any statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Where appropriate, we may offer a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy in accordance with applicable law.

13. Liability

We will not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful.

Subject to applicable law, we are not responsible for losses that could not reasonably have been expected or for losses resulting from circumstances outside our control.

Customers should follow appropriate professional advice when checking saddle safety and suitability.

14. Personal Information

We use customer information to process orders, provide services, take payments and communicate with customers.

Information may be shared with third parties where necessary to provide a service, where legally required, or where the customer has given permission.

15. General Terms

We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms where legally permitted.

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

A delay in enforcing a term does not mean that we have waived our right to enforce it later.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any statutory rights available to consumers in other parts of the UK.

16. Contact

For questions about these Terms & Conditions, orders, returns or complaints, please contact The Saddle Edit using the contact details published on our website.
