Saddle Trial & Returns Policy

1. Our 5-Day Saddle Trial

The Saddle Edit offers customers in mainland UK a 5-day trial period on eligible saddles.

The trial starts on the date the saddle is delivered and runs for 5 calendar days, including weekends and public holidays.

This 5-day trial is an additional service provided by The Saddle Edit. It does not affect or replace any statutory rights you may have under UK consumer law, including any applicable cancellation rights.

2. New Saddles

New saddles may be used during the trial, but must be treated with reasonable care and kept in saleable condition.

You may inspect and try the saddle as reasonably necessary to decide whether it is suitable. If the saddle is returned with damage, excessive wear or marks beyond what would reasonably be expected from inspection and fitting, The Saddle Edit may make a reasonable deduction from any refund to reflect the resulting reduction in value.

Any deduction will be based on the actual loss in value and will not affect your statutory rights.

3. Saddle Fitting

We recommend arranging an appointment with a suitably qualified saddle fitter during the trial period to assess fit and suitability.

Saddle fitting is a separate service and any fitting fees are your responsibility unless otherwise agreed.

We cannot guarantee courier delivery times or accept responsibility for costs you incur as a result of a delayed fitting appointment. We recommend allowing sufficient time between delivery and your fitting appointment.

Where available, we may be able to arrange for a saddle to be held for delivery for up to 14 days to help coordinate with a fitting appointment.

4. If You Decide Not to Keep the Saddle

If you decide that the saddle is not suitable, please contact us as soon as possible and follow our returns procedure.

For our 5-day trial, we ask that you notify us within the 5-day trial period and make the saddle available for collection promptly afterwards.

If you are exercising a statutory cancellation right, the applicable legal cancellation period and requirements will apply instead of any shorter trial-period deadline.

We will not use the 5-day trial period to remove or reduce any cancellation or other rights you have under consumer law.

5. Returns & Collection

The saddle must be returned in a suitable condition and securely packaged so that it can be transported safely.

Please remove or cover any previous delivery labels and make sure the packaging is securely sealed.

Where a collection has been arranged, you must make the saddle available on the agreed collection date.

The courier may provide a collection time window by text or email, so please ensure that your contact details are accurate.

6. Delivery & Return Costs

For our voluntary 5-day trial, the applicable delivery and return charges will be explained before you complete your order.

Where the law requires The Saddle Edit to refund delivery charges or prevents us from charging a particular cost, those statutory requirements will apply.

Any optional delivery upgrade chosen by you, such as Saturday delivery, will only be refundable where required by law.

You will not be charged an amount that is prohibited by applicable consumer law.

7. Trial Administration Fee

Where a separate £10 trial fee applies, this will be clearly shown before you place your order.

The fee relates to the additional administration, handling, packaging and preparation involved in providing the optional trial service.

The fee will not be used to restrict or remove any statutory right to cancel or obtain a refund.

8. Looking After the Saddle

The saddle remains your responsibility while it is in your possession.

You should take reasonable care of it and only use it to the extent reasonably necessary to inspect, assess and try it.

If the saddle is returned with damage or deterioration caused by handling beyond what is reasonably necessary, we may make a reasonable deduction from the refund to reflect the actual reduction in value.

This does not affect your statutory rights where the saddle is faulty, not as described or otherwise does not conform to the contract.

9. Refunds

Where you have a statutory right to cancel, refunds will be handled in accordance with the applicable consumer legislation.

For distance contracts, where the statutory cancellation rules apply, refunds will generally be made within the required legal timeframe. We may withhold the refund until the saddle has been returned or you have provided appropriate evidence that it has been sent back, where the law allows us to do so.

Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method.

Your bank or card provider may take additional time to show the refund in your account.

10. Faulty, Misdescribed or Unsuitable Goods

Nothing in this policy limits your legal rights.

If a saddle is faulty, not as described, not of satisfactory quality or not fit for its agreed purpose, you may have rights and remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

These rights are separate from our voluntary 5-day trial and cannot be excluded by these terms.

11. Statutory Rights

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or replace any rights you have under UK consumer law.

If there is a difference between this policy and a mandatory consumer-law requirement, the legal requirement will apply.

We aim to keep our terms clear, fair and transparent and will not rely on a term that is unfair or unenforceable.
